July is here and it’s scalloping time. July 1st to September 24th limit is two gallons hole scallops per person not more the 10 gallons per boat. Make sure the divers down flag is flying when swimmers are in the water.
Finding scallops is easy just get on a grass flat in 4-8 feet of water, slack low tide is the easiest time for all ages when the tide is moving it can get hard for some people so looking at the tide chart before your trip can make your day a lot easier.
Fishing is great we are catching trout in 10-12 feet of water using a 1/4 ounce jog head and a soft plastic bait like a gulp shrimp or little Jon. Red fish and snook are hanging on the outside islands and points look for a good current flow mid in coming tide seems to be the hot bite.
Tarpon are still hanging around the flats as well we will have them for a few more weeks and it’s about over with the migration. Small crabs or live pilchards will get the job done.
We can accommodate large parties for your scallop adventure give us a call to reserve your date
